More evidence that the elites don’t care about what we think.
Ken Lucas raised campaign cash in the Hamptons at a dinner that included Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, and Al Franken. Supposedly, the dinner benefited six Democratic candidates who had served in the military.
The people who gave money at this dinner do not care about Kentucky’s values. They care about their values. They only pretend to care in order to gain more power for themselves. They want a puppet in Kentucky’s Fourth District to vote their values, which are anti-war, pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage, and anti-2nd Amendment.
For some reason, they think that military service on a candidate’s resume is enough to trick Kentuckians who favor national security into voting for a candidate who would do nothing to strengthen national security if he were elected. It is absolutely imperative that the sensible people in the Fourth District to vote for Geoff Davis on November 7th and show the elites that you can not be fooled.
It is not a presidential election, but it is vitally important. That’s Newport, Erlanger, Oldham County, Kenton, all of you. Do not fail the nation on November 7th. Geoff Davis is not the most powerful man in Congress, but his presence there is very important to the health of this nation.

There are simply myriad circumstances under which the Emmy Awards show would have struck their “Lost” parody from the broadcast. If the plane had crashed in New York, California, or probably any other of the few remaining blue states, they probably wouldn’t have shown the clip, which was pretty insensitive given the timing.
I have to tell you, I knew something like this would happen. I thought it would be much more callous and direct, though. Basically, I imagined what the elitists were saying when they weren’t being recorded.
This is just another way that the elites are demonstrating to us that they do not care what we think or feel. After all, isn’t Kentucky just a fat, red, redneck state? Compassion couldn’t be extended to us, could it?
The only way the elites will ever even feign caring will be when they are convincing the families of the victims to allow them to sue on their behalf, because money and power are the only two things that elites care about. Class-action attorneys, I’m sure, are already lining up to sue whoever’s insurance company they can get their hands on. Hance, the lead attorney from the Carrollton bus crash tragedy, could probably take this case to trial half-asleep. Within ten years, there will be an emergency exit in every aisle, along with fire-extinguishers, a sprinkler system, flame-retardant blankets, and so on.
On the up side, I think we all know how to put the seat belts on. The airlines really should stop saying the same thing before every takeoff and landing and do something productive regarding passenger safety, like profile people in order to try to prevent terrorists from getting on the airplanes. Some of those airlines probably should go out of business, too. They charge an arm and a leg for a crappy flight where you have no room, are forced to sit upright for no reason, are forced to hear and watch the same inane safety instructions every time you board, and they lose your baggage about a quarter of the time.
I don’t know. The airlines are just a mess. Too much regulation? Too little? I know there is too little innovation. I think the guy from JetBlue is the only one who actually uses his brain. Southwest is pretty good, too, I guess.
Thoughts?

I just can’t believe that the Boulder people truly believed that John Mark Karr killed Jonbenet Ramsey. I think they made a big show out of Karr (and what a show he is!) just to try to cause some noise somewhere else and get some clues about someone else. I don’t know whether or not they know who they’re looking for, but I still think the Boulder people have just used Karr to try to get someone else.
We’ll see.

. . . ought to be very interesting. There is so much politicking going on right now, it’s ridiculous.
I hope that in the meantime, the Fletcher Administration can accomplish something noteworthy. There is still some legislating and governing to do, right? I want to say again, I don’t think Fletcher did anything wrong. I’m not even sure that his administration did anything wrong, per se. I do think they’ve done some good things like, for example, I love the gradual reduction of corporate tax rates. However, I also do not think Fletcher could win another gubernatorial election. They just haven’t been either slick enough or forceful enough - with the Democrats and with the media.
I hope RPK is smart over the next nine months, up until the nomination. I think after that, it’s really all up to the candidates. Right now, however, I think there has to be some strong central party planning with respect to legislation, initiatives, and trying to handle all the politicians out there.
There is a pretty serious negative association going on right now. It can be changed, but it’s going to take some smarts.

I love the story I heard recently about Happy Chandler. Someone asked him years and years after Major League Baseball was integrated about how he made his decision to allow Jackie Robinson to play. Happy said that he didn’t want to have to meet his Maker one day and have Him ask him, “Why didn’t you let that boy play ball?”
Unfortunately, Democrats like Happy are in the minority these days. Ben isn’t half the man Happy was, and people like Joe Lieberman are despised by today’s Democrats. Don’t get me wrong, even if Lieberman represented the majority of today’s Democrats I would most likely still vote Republican, but the country as a whole would be a much better place.

Thomas Sowell had a great article in Capitalism Magazine almost two years ago now that I just found. It is about “green bigots.” My favorite passage reads:
African economist James Skikwati in Kenya put the case against affluent Western environmental extremists very plainly when he said, “wealthy countries want the Earth to be green, the underdeveloped want the Earth fed.” He asked: “What gives the developed nations the right to make choices for the poor?”
A hydroelectric dam in Uganda would bring electricity to millions of Africans but it would also annoy the delicate sensibilities of environmentalists in Berkeley who like waterfalls.
Although, the scope of this green bigotry doesn’t even compare to regular old liberal race bigotry.
I am simply appalled every time I read something attacking conservative blacks for being conservative blacks. Statements made about people like Clarence Thomas, Condoleezza Rice, Michael Steele, and others being “Uncle Tom,” “Aunt Jemima,” “oreo,” and whatever else are just despicable.
Clarence Thomas put it well when he said, “Today is a travesty … And from my standpoint, as a black American, as far as I am concerned, it is a high-tech lynching for uppity blacks who in any way deign to think for themselves, to do for themselves, to have different ideas, and it is a message that, unless you kowtow to an old order, this is what will happen to you. You will be lynched, destroyed, caricatured by a committee of the U.S. Senate, rather than hung from a tree.”
For a black person to abandon the old order is seen as a crime committed against his race. I can not recommend enough Shelby Steele’s amazing books, White Guilt, The Content of Our Character, and A Dream Deferred, for an extensive review of this topic. I understand that Walter Williams, Starr Parker, Thomas Sowell, and John McWhorter also have great books on the topic, although I haven’t read any of them (yet). It is an issue that truly fascinates me, although there is very little I can do to solve the problem. Black people are expected to vote for Democrats and just accept that whatever they do is best for them. When black people think about the issues and decide that they believe conservative solutions are better, they are seen as abandoning their race. They are outcast and made fun of, and that is horrible.
What is worse is that the people doing the name-calling are all liberals, people from the NAACP like Benjamin Hooks, people like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, et alli. These liberals are supposedly sensitive, caring, anti-racism, and so on, but when a black person gravitates towards conservativism they become some of the biggest racists on the planet, pulling out names like “Handkerchief head,” “Sambo,” and “Wannabe white.”
Right now, liberals are trying to erode Michael Steele’s enormous national conservative support by portraying him as not-very-Republican, among other things. It’s very silly, because a quick look at this
Michael Steele campaign video tells you what he is all about. “He ‘talks white.’” What is that all about? Anyway, I don’t have very much money, but I’m going to send him at least a little bit. Please, contribute at least a little bit to Michael Steele’s Senate campaign now. Remember, Republicans almost always dominate Democrats in small donations and they add up to make a huge difference.
Conservatives believe that all people, regardless of race/color/sex/whatever other division of society, have the ability to succeed in America. Conservatives want to enable people to succeed, while Democrat policy holds people down and enslaves not only them, but their children, into poverty and powerlessness. Conservatives believe that you can succeed, regardless of whether or not your neighbor chooses to. Conservatives would teach a man to fish, rather than give him meals daily. Conservatives believe that if you are born poor, you can die wealthy and/or happy. Conservatives believe that even if we live a hard life, we can make a better life for our children.
It is a sad truth that not everyone is able to be helped. All we can do, though, is try to make the coming generation more likely to succeed.
Maybe a bigger topic to explore is how we define success. I think it is morally vacant to define success monetarily. To say that the wealthiest among us are the happiest or most successful is ridiculous. Still, outside the church, there seems to be little consensus on a reasonable way to define success and accomplishment in America. That probably says something right there, but we still need to talk about it for the sake of others.

Courier-Journal reported yesterday that the Kentucky Bar Association recommended the suspension of three lawyers involved in the infamous fen-phen class-action suit. This is the Schroder/Bamberger crowd that I wrote about a couple months ago in Rich Liberals Attempt Supreme Coup in Kentucky. Of course, it looks like Stan Chesley of Cincinnati will escape punishment - not that he cares. If I had hundreds of millions, I wouldn’t really worry about being disbarred.
That reminds me of when Clinton was disbarred. He would have cared about an impeachment conviction, but disbarment? It’s all the courts could do, and it was proper, but I don’t think Clinton really cared.
Trash like this will continue to fill our newspapers until more people like Marcus Carey are elected to the Kentucky Supreme Court. He is a humble, honest man with values and will make an excellent Justice. Anybody can learn the law, but it takes a person with courage and integrity to sit on a bench and honor the law. Marcus Carey is that type of person, and it is crucial that the people of his district support him in the election this November.

Before last night, I didn’t know anything about Trey Grayson. I still don’t, really, and in time we will all learn more about Grayson’s ideas and potential. However, he did appear to be a fairly impressive politician. By that, I mean he may actually be able to accomplish a few things if he would decide to run for Governor and won.
I feel bad for Fletcher because I think he is a victim of this ridiculous Kentucky political syndrome which is childish, revenge-oriented, makes issues out of non-issues, mimics national politics, etc. I think he has done some good things while Governor and if people would have just allowed him to work he could have been great. His accomplishments are clouded by a constant media barrage on him and a refusal to cooperate with innocent efforts to improve the state. That said, I do not think he could win another election. Also, I think none of this would have happened if a different Republican would have been nominated and won in 2003.
For example, I was a big fan of Rebecca Jackson. I worked on her campaign, I’ve always liked her, and I think she would have been an excellent Governor. Why? Because she wouldn’t have taken the kind of crap that Fletcher has. Fletcher,in my opinion, has caused some of his own problems by not dealing with things head on when they occurred. Someone like Jackson 1) may not have been dealt the crap Fletcher was dealt, and 2) would have stopped it the minute it started. People said Jackson couldn’t raise the funds necessary to win the Governor’s seat, but isn’t that what party support is for? A little help from the RPK and others could have propelled Jackson into Frankfort and she would have gotten things done without two years of media coverage on one non-issue.
I don’t think people (in Frankfort, mostly) liked Fletcher’s D.C. style and association with Washington and refused to cooperate with him. Jackson would have been personable enough, trustworthy enough, strong enough, and perhaps stubborn enough to accomplish what needed to be accomplished over the last three years. The Louisville media would have undoubtedly cut her some slack. So, if you’re scared of who may turn out to be the next Governor, blame the party for not selecting the right candidate and tell them to not make the same mistake next time.
Grayson may be the guy, but the party as a whole has to be sure.

Michael Levin, 22 of Pennsylvania, was killed fighting Hezbollah for the Israeli Defense Forces on Wednesday. It is said that fighting for Israel was his dream since the age of 16. He made the ultimate sacrifice in heavy fighting with the terrorist group near Aita al-Shaab in Lebanon.
God bless him.

I love this story about a Louisville opthamologist, Dr. Britt Brockman, arranging for corneal tissue donation to an Israeli grandmother. The transplant was successful, and the woman is expected to regain normal eyesight in her right eye. She said, “I am very happy and very grateful for what the Americans have done.”
It got me thinking about Louisville’s Sister Cities. Wouldn’t you love for Louisville to have a sister city in Israel? Email Mayor Jerry Abramson about it. Maybe there is something he can do.

There is a little news relating to the rich liberals attempting a supreme coup in Kentucky.
Read about it in the Courier-Journal’s editorial.
Looks like Mr. Chesley has escaped the grasp of law up to this point.

1) If any of you all, your friends, or family are currently involved in an online relationship with someone who lives in Africa and needs money to get to the U.S. Embassy or money for a flight to America so they can meet you or any thing of this sort - be aware it is likely a scam. My friend’s mom thought she was in a legitimate relationshipo before her son advised otherwise. Right after this guy told me and some others the story, another guy in the room said that a friend of his has two Nigerian women who are in love with him and that they need money so they can book a flight to America and meet him, etc. Coincidence? I think not.
2) I just got this email, which is also a confirmed scam:
