High School Football

“We’re looking forward to playing a program like Trinity because they’re the best.”
- Ryle Head Coach, Bryson Warner

Yeah, that’s right! In case you all don’t already know, the Courier-Journal’s Litkenhous ratings are this absurd:

Louisville Male beat Louisville St. Xavier twice. Trinity beat St. Xavier once (a 10-0, one quarter game that was rained out) & Trinity beat Louisville Male once (in the 2nd best high school football game ever played in the state ever). However, C-J still rated Male #1, St. X #2, and Trinity #4. I think Trinity somehow moved up to be #3 now.

Also, congratulations to Boone County Rebel and great guy Shaun Alexander, who ran for 201 yards on Monday Night Football last night for the Seahawks against the Packers and legend Brett Favre. Of course, in the post-game interview, Shaun gave credit where the real credit is due.

“Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4 - the verse #37 Alexander records while signing autographs

Stop Her Now

If we don’t do something to stop her now, and let her go unrestrained and not kept in check and just let her lie without ever calling her out on it, she will get elected President in 2008.

I’m just being real. Sorry for the downer.

Thou Shalt Not Be A Victim

Allowing your fate to fall into the hands of others only hurts yourself:

Mahdi Bray, executive director of the Muslim American Society Freedom Foundation, called removing the imams an act of Islamophobia and compared it to racism against blacks.

It’s a shame that as an African-American and a Muslim I have the double whammy of having to worry about driving while black and flying while Muslim, Mr. Bray said.

I think it’s a shame that in a nation full of so much opportunity and freedom, someone would choose to be such an idiot.

Hydrogen-Powered Explorer

This article about Ford showing off some hydrogen-powered Explorer is kind of dumb. All I’m saying is . . .

This Explorer cost a million dollars to make and is worth $0 to consumers.

The only real short-term solution to the “global warming issue” and “reducing our dependance on foreign oil” is to produce fuel which can be used in existing engines. That sort of synthetic fuel/gasoline could be manufactured right here in KY if we would build a coal gasification & liquefaction plant. We do have the 3rd most coal reserves in the nation & the best low-sulfur/high BTU coal in probably the world. True, a lot of it has moderate to high amounts of sulfur, but you can get that out during gasification. It sure would be $2 billion well spent.

Somebody could make a lot of money . . .

My Conservatism

It’s almost December, it’s cold outside, very cold at times, and my wife and I still haven’t turned the heat on in our apartment. I love doing this. When a lot of people’s bills are starting to go up, ours are going down. Sure, it’s cold in the apartment, but it’s not a big deal. I just wear warm clothes and everything’s alright. I might try to make it all the way through this winter w/o heat, just to say I did.

Does anyone else do this?

I’m not so hardheaded in the summer, though. I hate the heat and blast the AC.

Take care of what you have. Do it yourself when possible rather than paying someone. Waste not, want not. Save your leftovers for tomorrow. Take lunch with you, rather than spending $5-$10 out every day. Don’t keep what you don’t need in the house; clutter boggles the mind. Cigarette money could be invested into very profitable retirement funds. For colds and simple pains, get the generic drugs. Don’t buy what you don’t need. Buy used cars.

Does this make me a penny-pincher? I think of it as conservative. I haven’t really gotten into coupons yet. I’m sure I will, though.

Bush Proved Correct

Bush was proved correct yesterday. Hezbollah/Syria/Iran sensed weakness and acted on it. We have the “Iraq Study Group” suggesting talking those over with Syria and Iran, elevating them to the status that they want of powerbrokers, Bush replacing the Secretary of Defense a few weeks ago, Blair saying things similar to the ISG, and a new weak Congress - and look - Hezbollah/Syria/Iran are trying to topple Lebanon’s democratic government, engulf it, and transform it into a Shia-dominated theocracy.

All this public “re-thinking” is empowering them. They should probably move troops out of less-important regions and into the Middle East and stop this while they can. “Stay the course” doesn’t have to mean “more of the same.” It’s more like, “Do whatever you have to do to win.”

Am I Right?

The article Drudge linked to about Republicans taking Clinton down by way of Pelosi is the flip side of what I said a day or two ago. They tie into one another.

Do you really think Clinton would allow that to happen? She will screach at whomever necessary to get Pelosi out of her way.

If you didn’t see it, here’s the article.

Republican Voluntary Tax Increase Bill

I love stuff like this voluntary tax increase bill. If people think they are undertaxed, or they “wouldn’t mind paying a little more,” let them do it! Of course, the number of people who actually do this will be indicative of what percentage of Kentucky’s population can actually afford the increase, and who really wants an increase.

I say call them out and pass it!

Something’s Fishy In Congress

Something is just not right about this Pelosi, Murtha, Hoyer thing. Is it a setup?

Pelosi probably vocally supported Murtha just to satisfy the San Francisco treats out there. Murtha was probably just too stupid to realize he wasn’t going to win the HML spot. Democrats want to win in 2008, so why would they incite the right by putting Murtha front and center on Iraq? Hoyer, obviously, was their best choice.

The thing that gets me, though, is Pelosi. Democrats have been labeled liberals and nutty for so long now, they want to do everything they can to counteract that impression that people have and make people think that maybe it wasn’t such a bad mistake after all to put them in charge of Congress.

Do you think that Democrat leadership, i.e. the Clintons & Carville & Co., are setting Pelosi up to be ousted? This would make the Democrats look like they are rejecting that liberalism to which they subscribe, even though they’re not. This theory would, in fact, go with Carville’s comments today about the Mad Doctor Dean, who he said was “C-” and had “Rumsfeldian incompetence.”

They build you up just to tear you down. Clinton will probably have 200 to 250 million dollars in the bank by the time they reject the netroots Pelosi/Dean crowd. She wouldn’t really need them anymore, would she?

No Complaining!

Honestly, I really don’t want to see any complaining from KY conservative bloggers about who has been elected to Republican and Democrat leadership positions in Congress, and who has become heads of committees. Everybody knew what was going to happen before this election, but nobody wanted to come together to prevent this from happening. Everyone seemed to be more interested in punishing Republicans and talking about everything they were doing wrong. Punishing Republicans at the expense of the nation and the greater good is a truly asinine concept. We should have done everything possible to keep majorities, and then tear the Republicans up after the election. Sure, there are some good things that can happen because of the mid-term elections, but it will require a ton of optimism, something we don’t seem to have anymore, and a ton of hard, difficult work, and yes, compromises. Why don’t you all do a little math and figure out when we’re going to get the Senate back? Report what you find.

Deal with it, and plan 2008. No complaining.

Giuliani

Rudolph W. Giuliani was impressive on C-Span tonight. It was actually 11/3 at Victory NH. I said earlier I would support, McCain/Rice, but Giuliani/Rice would probably be better. And if it has to be McCain or Giuliani with a different VP, fine, but I just really love Condoleezza and want her to be on the ticket and recognize that she has said repeatedly that she would not run for President but has never said she would not run for VP if asked and I think she has a lot to offer even if data shows that VP nominees have very little effect on how voters vote on Pres.

Run-ons are fun every now and then. Romney might be a great guy and all, but sorry, I just don’t see it happening. Plus, I would love to see Rudy crush Hillary in the Battle for NYC.

I knew I liked Giuliani, but had only heard him speak about issues briefly. Mostly, I had seen him on entertainment type things like Letterman.

Rush Comments!

I’m not going to eat my own, and I’m not going to throw my own overboard, particularly in a campaign, and particularly when the country is at war — and I’m not going to do it for selfish reasons, and I’m not going to do it to stand out, and I’m not going to do it to be different. I’m not going to do it to draw attention from our enemies. I’m not going to do anything I do so that the Drive-By Media will like me or think that, “Ooooh, Limbaugh has changed! Ooooh, Limbaugh is coming around!” That’s not my thinking. My thinking is: the left doesn’t deserve to win. My thinking is: the country is imperiled with liberal victory. We may not have the best people on our side, but they’re better than what we have on the left.

But it has been difficult sometimes, when these people on our side have not had the guts to stand up for themselves, have not had the guts to explain what they really believe and why they’re doing what they’re doing. When they haven’t had the courage to be who they are, when they haven’t had the courage to be conservatives. It has been a challenge to come in here and look at some of the weaknesses and some of the missed opportunities and try to cover for them and make up for them and make sure that the opportunities are not totally lost. But at some point you have to say, “I’m not them, and I can’t assume the responsibility for their success. It isn’t my job to make them succeed. It isn’t my job to make elected Republicans look good if they can’t do it themselves. It’s not my job to make them understandable and understood if they can’t do it themselves — not in perpetuity, not ad infinitum.” So all I can tell you is I feel a little liberated, and I think this is all going to result in a lot of cleansing in a number of areas.

Here here! I know what you mean, Rush! I can’t imagine being in that position, and your character and integrity are very strong! No more selling out! Practice what you preach! Be honest all the time! Don’t go to Congress for the free stuff! Let’s get back to the basics!

Stripping As "Free Speech"

Wow. I didn’t know Schroder was one of the 2 on the appeals panel who upheld the “removing one’s clothing for money is ‘free speech’”
argument.

What a scumbag. I think Schroder’s personal tastes got in the way of his “brilliant legal mind” in that decision.

It’s The Final Countdown

We should all be listening to “The Final Countdown” right now, getting charged up for tomorrow.

Regarding the House races - all of Kentucky’s races will be won by Republicans - Northup, Davis, Lewis, et al. Indiana Sodrel will probably win, too. Hostettler and Chocola I don’t know. I think the Senate Republicans will lose 2 or 3 max collegues, and, unfortunately it looks like Santorum will be one of them. I hope not, but I have to admit it looks that way. Part of my relative speech has to do with the fact that I know Republican get out the vote efforts are going to surprise, again, everyone. My only issue is that I don’t know where they are going to work enough to cause the wins. Overall, I say House Republicans lose 12, 13 max and the GOP will hold both chambers of Congress.

Regarding Carey/Schroder, it’s hard for me to say because I have a difficult time picking up a feel for what’s going on in the 4th district. Someone high in KY state gov’t told me today that he thinks Schroder will win. However, all I’m saying is if Carey has initiated and executed a get out the vote effort even remotely similar to the one Geoff Davis has, he has to win. Kentucky’s 4th district was just rated as THE #1 best get out the vote/72 hour campaign in the country by the NRCC for this election cycle. That’s hard for anyone to beat.

Bottom line: I understand the concern and I feel it too. I believe a lot of this concern has been revealed in polls the last couple weeks. For some people, all you can do is go vote tomorrow. And that’s okay. Remember, if it rains, like it’s supposed to here in Louisville, a lot of Democrats will not vote because civic duty is not as important to Democrats as it is to Republicans. We have to get out in the rain, though, in order to win. On the other hand, though, for a lot of other people, there is a lot we can do to encourage others to vote. You can make calls tomorrow as a precinct or block captain, go to a busy street corner with candidate signs, take people without transportation to the polls, or simply remind family and coworkers to get to the polls. This will cause an immense surge of previously undetected GOP voters which will tip the election our way and save the nation from Nancy Pelosi, Charlie Rangel, and the rest of the liberal Democrats.

Stay positive, and expect bad news for the GOP as early as noon tomorrow. It will be inaccurate information in most cases, so stay positive.

Free Speech For Liberals Only

I love this story about how two guys were arrested for stealing 70 Anne Northup signs out of peoples’ yards a couple nights ago. I also love how the C-J says “steeling” instead of “stealing.”

It seems like free speech is the best defense for almost every reprehensible action one could take, only liberals are the only ones who have that freedom. I just hope they’re convicted of the felony they’ve been charged with, so they are never able to vote.
