Be embraced, you millions!
This kiss for the whole world!
Brothers, beyond the star-canopy
Must a loving Father dwell.
Do you bow down, you millions?
Do you sense the Creator, world?
Seek Him beyond the star-canopy!
Beyond the stars must He dwell.

This is my favorite one:
“I’m probably not the best candidate to ask about global warming because I fly jets. I use them as a business tool though, as others do. I think it’s part of this industry – otherwise I couldn’t be here doing this and I wouldn’t be here now.”
Okay. Valid point. However, most other people use CARS as business tools when they drive them back and forth to work, school, etc. People like Travolta need to stop guilt-tripping all the regular people for using gasoline, trying to tax engines, and so on and just let God and the market do their magic. The paranoia from people like Gore and Travolta is revolting and it stems from a lack of faith. Environmentalism is a religion replacement, just as Communism was, because serious religions don’t serve powerful Hollywood elitists interests. I personally embrace sensible environmental measures that encourage good stewardship of the land. Paranoids and fanaticists need not apply.

I want to thank Jim Dicken of Louisville for being a sensible Democrat for the War in Iraq.

WAVE3 has a story about a Hardin County 18 year old man who was arrested for asking trying to meet a 15 year old girl for sex. The thing was, it wasn’t the girl on MySpace when he planned the romp. It was the girl’s dad.
This needs to happen more often. People are taken advantage of way too much in our society. The young are used and adults refuse to grow up. People have no reverance for the law and certainly not the innocence or well-being of others. I’d like to see a lot more of this kind of thing.

This article about Rudy Giuliani is interesting, but weak I think.

“Legislators will tell you they did not see Ernie Fletcher but once or twice during the entire session. During the last week he was only seen once. He was out in rural communities giving out oversized checks for pavement.
“Now, there is a day to give oversize checks for pavement, but there are 365 days in a year; the legislature is in session for 30.”

Northup/Hoover got endorsements from 3 state Reps earlier this week. These are bold, courageous endorsements because these guys will find themselves in a bit of a pinch in the next General Assembly if Fletcher happens to win another election. This not only shows the momentum gain in favor of Northup/Hoover, it is indicative of the general decline in support of Fletcher. People who have been straddling the fence peeking in both back yards are now beginning to realize that Northup/Hoover offer Kentucky the best chance of moving forward in the years to come. Elizabethtown’s News-Enterprise:
HARDIN COUNTY — State Rep. Dwight Butler, R-Harned, was one of three state representatives Thursday to endorse gubernatorial candidate Anne Northup and her running mate, Jeff Hoover.
Butler represents the 18th District, which covers part of Hardin County and Breckinridge, Bullitt, Daviess and Hancock counties.
“I have known them both for 10 years, and I’m convinced their proven leadership ability will lead Kentucky forward,” Butler said in a written statement.
Along with Butler, Rep. Tim Couch, R-Hyden, and Rep. John Vincent, R-Ashland, announced their support of the Northup-Hoover ticket.

From the Northup/Hoover campaign:
Another week and Kentucky Republicans are opening their mail box to find another glossy mail piece from the Ernie Fletcher campaign.
This time the topic is Health Care.
Ernie Fletcher actually wants you to believe that he has lowered the cost of Health Care!
Take the Kentucky Health Care Challenge!
Question: Do you think Ernie Fletcher has fixed the problems with Health Care and lowered the cost for Kentuckians?
If you answer YES to this, then Ernie Fletcher is your candidate on May 22nd.
If you answer NO to this, then Anne Northup is your candidate on May 22nd.
Question: Have your Health Care insurance premiums skyrocketed while Ernie Fletcher has sat back and done nothing?
If you answer YES to this, then Anne Northup is your candidate on May 22nd.
If you answer NO to this, then Ernie Fletcher is your candidate on May 22nd.
So make sure when you open your mail box and see Ernie Fletcher’s next glossy mailer that you check for the facts…you’ll have to look past the mailer because they won’t be on there.
Anne Northup has a better plan! Click here to read her position on Health Care or watch her discuss the issue by clicking here.
Next time you see Ernie Fletcher make sure you ask him what is his plan is for Health Care! He has lots of glossy mailers but not a lot of plans.

As of right now, Erwin Roberts is the only serious candidate for Congress in KY-3 for 2008. So, of course, he gets a Facebook Group! We need to gather around Roberts and help him unseat the liberal John Yarmuth in the ‘08 elections.

An old southern country preacher had a teenage son, and it was
getting time the boy should give some thought to choosing a profession.
Like many young men, the boy didn’t really know what he wanted
to do, and he didn’t seem too concerned about it.
One day, while the boy was away at school, his father decided
to try an experiment.
He went into the boy’s room and placed on his study table four objects:
-a Bible,
- a silver dollar,
- a bottle of whisky and
- a Playboy magazine
“I’ll just hide behind the door,” the old preacher said to himself,
“and when he comes home from school this afternoon, I’ll see which object he picks up.
If it’s the Bible, he’s going to be a preacher like me, and
what a blessing that would be!
If he picks up the dollar, he’s going to be a businessman, and
that would be okay, too.
But if he picks up the bottle, he’s going to be a no-good
drunkard, and, Lord, what a shame that would be.
And worst of all, if he picks up that magazine he’s gonna be a
skirt-chasin’ bum.”
The old man waited anxiously, and soon heard his son’s
footsteps as he entered the house whistling and headed for his room.
The boy tossed his books on the bed, and as he turned to leave the room he spotted
the objects on the table.
With curiosity in his eye, he walked over to inspect them.
Finally, he picked up the Bible and placed it under his arm.
He picked up the silver dollar and dropped it into his pocket.
He uncorked the bottle and took a big drink while he admired this month’s Centerfold.
“Lord have mercy,” the old preacher disgustedly whispered,
“he’s gonna be a Congressman!”

For anyone who’s unaware, lefties from all over the country are targeting Kentucky this year and next, and specifically Mitch McConnell. McConnell is too effective in the Senate (remember the Mitch-slap) for the Ds, and they want to cut the head off the monster. If McConnell had been there a few years ago instead of Frist, Congress would have gotten a lot more done while the Republicans held the majority and the ‘06 losses wouldn’t have been as bad for the Republicans because even though there still would have been great discontent over Iraq, at least Republicans and conservatives would have been happy over more substantial progress on things like immigration reform, etc., and the tide could have been held back some.
Here’s a sample of the garbage being posted by lefties (Wonkette):
Still recovering from last night’s Radio/TV dinner? Nothin’ can lift the morning haze faster than a cup of strong coffee and a fantastically gross rumor — like imagining Mitch McConnell making sweaty, passionate love to lithe young soldiers.
If you can just sneak those rumors into otherwise unrelated items — say, a discussion of an ad criticizing his support for the war — it’s even more effective at jolting your audience awake. Here’s how it’s done, courtesy some blog we’ve never heard of:
The spot, which makes no allusions to McConnell’s sexual status or the fact that he was kicked out of the military for molesting young soldiers, primarily show him making false statements on the Senate floor about progress in Iraq.
Wait wait wait back up — doing what to who??? Jeez, Gaypril came early this year.
Put petty arguments over McConnell not being perfect aside. Support him now and think of all the time, energy, and money the leftists will have wasted on defeating him in ‘08.
Update: More Lefty Talk

Oh yeah, I’m a Kentuckian and I knew a bunch of McConnell interns. HUGE flamers. Something tells me they were all taken to the “woodshed” on a regular basis. — I’m here all day folks, just let me know and I’ll keep up comin’.

Why are all of the closeted Republicians so f’ing UGLY!?! I’d need alcohol, drugs and a black-out hood to even consider hitting that! YUCK!!!

I think that’s why they become GOP pols.
Since no self respecting gay man will screw them, they decide they’ll get into politics and screw us.

MELINDA WHEELER
for Kentucky’s State Treasurer
Hello from the Campaign Trail - Wednesday, March 28, 2007
It’s been several weeks since I last wrote you about my campaign for State Treasurer of Kentucky. That was about 20 Lincoln Day Dinners ago! Whatever you’ve read about this year’s Republican Primary, let me tell you there is more than a little energy in this Kentucky GOP, judging from the incredible turn-out at each and every event I’ve attended.
I read one reporter’s comment recently that these dinners were packed with governor’s appointees, but that doesn’t account for ALL the Republicans who have literally come out of nowhere to attend Lincoln Day Dinners, filling up grand banquet halls when a couple of years ago these events were held in phone booths!
It’s a great day dawning for the Republican Party of Kentucky. The only thing clouding our horizon is the unnecessary discord and bickering in the governor’s race. Somehow, we have to move beyond the name calling. Ronald Reagan was right when he called for an 11th Commandment. The goal was to keep primaries civil in order to win the general election. Isn’t it odd how some folks can’t seem to understand?
Will our party survive after May 22 and go on to victory in November, given the sharp and shrill level of negativity? I certainly hope so. Many people out in the small towns and rural parts of Kentucky ask me the same question. They wonder if we can put all the pieces together to win in November.
For those of us candidates in down-ballot races, it’s especially important to have a united party as we depend so much on the popularity of the governor, who is the top of our ticket in this year’s critical election.
This can be a tremendous year for Republicans in Kentucky, where we can conceivably sweep the entire statewide GOP ticket into office. That would be historic, giving us an opportunity as none other to bring the kinds of meaningful change to better the lives of all Kentuckians. That’s worth fighting for this election, as far as I’m concerned. I hope you agree.
Best wishes to you and yours,
Melinda Wheeler
P.S. I hope to be in your community soon. If you want to set up a meeting with some of your friends and neighbors, just send me an e-mail note. We’ll get in touch. Here’s my e-mail: Melinda@MelindaWheeler07.com.
I look forward to seeing Wheeler this weekend at the Legacy Dinner.

I’ll show you.
Do a Google search for “thomas jefferson kentucky.” You should get 3 phone numbers at the top of the page. One is for a Thomas Jefferson in Hodgenville. I won’t post the number here.
Now, go to this RPK PDF and look at the top of page 9. See Kimberly Jefferson? Observe the phone number listed for her. It’s the same as Thomas Jefferson of Hodgenville’s.
Now, I might not be a genius, but it looks to me like Thomas J Jefferson is married to the Larue County Republican Party Chairperson. For the geographically challenged, Louisville is not in Larue County.
Some questions are easy to answer. We could probably find out more but the state’s KREF database isn’t working.

It appears that most of the state’s website is down. There are a few possible reasons.
1) Everybody’s reading each other’s emails.
2) All hell is breaking loose over the new merit report.
3) It has been shut down purposely to prevent state employees from reading the news before the spin propagandists can “fix it.”
Which is it?
Update:Of course, you can still get to http://governor.ky.gov/.

This just out at C-J. A new report says state worker firing was political.Excerpts:
FRANKFORT, Ky. — A hearing officer has found that the former deputy inspector general of the Transportation Cabinet was fired in 2005 for political reasons and recommends that he be reinstated with back pay.
The firing of Mike Duncan as deputy inspector general by Transportation Secretary Bill Nighbert “resulted not from his work performance, but due to a consensus that he must go due to his political beliefs and activities,” according to a report issued today.
State Personnel Board hearing officer John Ryan issued the 54-page finding and recommended order.
Nighbert and Gov. Ernie Fletcher have said that Duncan was not fired for political reasons. They also contended Nighbert had the right to terminate Duncan on May 13, 2005 because Duncan was serving his six-month probationary period - a time when rank and file employees are not covered by the full protections of the state merit system law.
But Ryan concluded Duncan’s firing was “excessive, erroneous and improper” and in violation of the state merit system law.

I can’t even read this. I wish we still had the stocks and a bunch of angry people with rotten fruit ready to publicly embarass people like this.
