Leland Conway teased us today by telling us that Trey Grayson is going to make a “huge political announcement” tomorrow on Conway’s radio show, The Pulse, heard from 9 a.m. to noon on 630 AM in the Lexington area or you can listen online at WLAP.COM, which is what I do. In my opinion, The Pulse is much better than any other radio show originating in this area.

Now, I don’t know what Grayson is planning to do. However, he’s not already running for another office, so it must be a Presidential endorsement tomorrow. He will probably endorse Mitt Romney.

If this turns out to be true, it would be another in a long line of smart political moves by Grayson.

Many Kentucky Republicans, unsure about nearly all the Republican candidates, gravitate toward Romney. If Romney does get the nomination, then Grayson will be an early supporter of not only the winner, but the candidate of choice for much of Grayson’s base.

If another Republican gets the nomination, however, then Grayson rolls up his sleeves and sets a good example for the rest of Kentucky’s Republicans in working for that candidate.

Despite some potential fatal flaws that Romney may have, like seeming fake and nominating poor judges, he could make a very good President.

For other major political players such as Anne Northup and possibly Cathy Bailey, early endorsement of former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani is a smart move as well. Giuliani is the national front-runner, and if he gets the nomination that many expect their support of him could possibly go a long way in getting Kentucky’s voice heard in a potential Giuliani administration.

All the Republican candidates currently trail Democrat front-runner Hillary Clinton right now, but that is to be expected because of the wider range of support for the three to four top-tier Republican candidates and the lack of campaigning in the Bluegrass State thus far.

Giuliani and Romney both will be in Kentucky December 5th.
