Afternoon Potpourri

Chelsea and The Gays, Act II: Amanda Carpenter of Townhall.com reports that Chelsea Clinton attended an event described as “mondo-alcohol-fueled dance party where nearly 2,000 gay men in various states of red dress undress (and several nearly naked straight men as well as one very colorfully decorated naked woman) invade a warehouse in Northeast Portland.” Barack Obama, meanwhile, can’t find time to talk to the gay press.

DNC Protest Plans Begin: Michigan and Florida Democrats are planning to picket the DNC convention unless Howard Dean resolves the dispute about their states’ delegates not getting seated.

How Will Yarmuth Vote On Tax Day?: House Republican Leader John Boehner (R - OH) is forcing a vote tomorrow on stopping the largest tax increase in U.S. history. Boehner statement abstract:

On June 14, 2007, Rep. Tim Walberg (R-MI) introduced the Tax Increase Prevention Act (H.R. 2734). The legislation would stop the $683 billion tax increase passed by House Democrats in March as part of their FY 2009 budget proposal. House Republicans will use Rep. Walberg’s proposal to force a vote on stopping the largest tax increase in American history.

How do you think our plutocratic Rep. John Yarmuth (D - KY / Pluto) will vote?

Polygamist Mothers Say Children Traumatized While In State Custody: Strange. Normally, I would say anyone in state custody is probably being traumatized in some way or another. However, these kids are undoubtedly safer here than in the polygamist sect they grew up in where they were routinely raped. Regardless, did it ever occur to the mothers that maybe the kids were “horrified” by the physical examinations they were undergoing in state custody because of the incessant rapes they endured while back home at the rape ranch? I don’t know whether they’re brainwashed or idiots or both.

American Rep Helps Shape Iranian Propaganda: Guess who? Our plutocratic Rep. John Yarmuth!, of course.

The whole argument that Yarmuth made in the DNC address is so ridiculous. Democrats are acting like the only time the United States allocates military spending is when we are actually engaged in war. The truth is we have military spending in times of war and peace. The amount of additional money we spend each year specifically because we have chosen to engage the enemy in Iraq and Afghanistan may not be known precisely, but it would never cause a recession. Recessions are cyclical and they are much shorter now than they ever have been throughout history. Besides, in WWII, military spending reached something like 44% of GDP. Now it is something like 4%. We’re still here, aren’t we. Plus, it’s kind of sad for Yarmuth to get favorable press from Iran since it is the country whose media just said this about John McCain:
