Don’t anybody act like you reported this before I did last week. It’s official now, though. Anne Northup did, in fact, raise close to $500,000 in about 8 weeks for her race against our plutocratic Rep. John Yarmuth (D - KY / Pluto). That’s almost twice as much as Yarmuth raised in 2008 Q1. Here’s an excerpt from the press release:

[Louisville, KY] Congressional candidate Anne Northup announced today that her campaign raised $461,007 during the first quarter of 2008, and has $428,000 cash-on-hand. Her extremely successful fundraising effort indicates a deep dissatisfaction with the way the Democratic majority in Congress has handled the national economy, and that Louisvillians want a return to her extremely effective advocacy on behalf of our community.

Let me tell you again. Anne Northup is the strongest Republican challenger in the country. If you want a Republican to beat a Democrat incumbent in 2008, you need to give money to Northup for Congress and then come to Louisville and do volunteer work for the Northup campaign this fall.
