Food for thought.
McCain Bloggers Only Call: I listened in to a conference call with John McCain today. I didn’t get to ask McCain my question, but I did get a response from one of the conference call organizers, Patrick Hynes. My question was essentially, “Yesterday in reference to the NC GOP ad, Rush Limbaugh questioned whether or not Senator McCain has plans to help Republican candidates for House and Senate. Does Senator McCain have plans like this?” The response I got from Hynes was:
Sen. McCain has campaigned for more Republicans candidates over the past eight years than any other figure in the GOP. He has every intention of doing so again over the next several months. Sen. McCain believes it is important to present a united effort to the American people that highlights our party’s strengths.
Talk radio show host Hugh Hewitt asked McCain about the connections between Barack Obama and the domestic terrorist Bill Ayers and McCain took a different tone than he has with the Jeremiah Wright situation. He said Ayers is an “unrepentant terrorist” and said that the American people “should be discussing” this issue.
McCain led the call off by telling the listeners about his visit to Inez, KY earlier this week and how Lyndon Johnson stood in front of Fletcher’s front porch there in Inez 40 years ago and declared the War on Poverty. I guess we’re in a quagmire in that battle. He also stated that since he announced his plan to give the American people a little temporary tax relief by suspending the federal gasoline and diesel taxes this summer that the special interests have reacted as if it were the end of western civilization. Wouldn’t the liberal academia elites just love that?
Richardson vs. Carville II: Bill Richardson recently said that the Clintons and the Clinton people were “clinging to the throne.” Carville then responded beautifully. “I don’t know how to address that kind of idiocy, but let me try . . . The last time I checked, people out there are voting, and they’re going to vote some more . . .”
Local Construction Moratorium Dies: Thanks in part to BGRS and The Ville Voice, Marianne Butler’s (D-15) stupid construction moratorium idea died last night at the Metro Council. However, it did not go gently into that good night. It’s probably not 100% over yet for the regular folks who are trying to do business on their property, but this is a big win for freedom in Louisville.
