More Shocking Local Media Bias

As if my earlier examples of local media bias against Republican candidates and the conservative philosophy in general were not enough to make you cancel your subscriptions to the states two largest newspapers, the Lexington Herald-Leader and the Louisville Courier-Journal, let me lay this on you. It’s somewhat shocking, but let me be honest with you, folks. This barely scratches the surface.

Last week, Senator Mitch McConnell launched a new ad touting his achievements. Neither the C-J nor the H-L reported anything in the print editions of their publications. The coverage was so lousy the C-J put just 23 words on their blog along with the ad. However, for much of last year, while McConnell was being attacked locally by special interest groups from abroad, neither paper could put enough juicy words out on their online and print editions. See the image for examples.

Throughout all of this, it should be noted that Ryan Alessi of the Lexington H-L is probably the best reporter of the two newspapers. His material is probably the most balanced, and elicits more balanced headlines than any other reporter’s. Sorry, Ryan, I had to say it. People may start ostricizing you now, but I guess maybe that is the price of fairly honest reporting that gets noticed for being so. Moreover, despite all the things the H-L does wrong, that paper is probably a little bit more balanced than the C-J. This image that will help demonstrate these points.

That last one was an AP article, but H-L put it on the front page of the B section.
