Some initial reports of the testimony of General David Petraeus are starting to come out.

Petraeus cited “significant but uneven security progress,” and one moron was kicked out of the room because he was shouting “bring them home.”

Meanwhile, Democrats keep saying repeatedly that the surge has failed. Senator Carl Levin said “The purpose of the surge as announced by President Bush last year … has not been achieved.” Senator Hillary Clinton is always a hoot. She said in an interview on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” that the troop buildup had failed in its stated purpose, “to give the Iraqi government space and time to do what it needed to do when it came to allocating oil revenues, improving services, coming to some political reconciliation.”

Senator John McCain said:

Since the middle of last year, sectarian and ethnic violence, civilian deaths, and deaths of coalition forces have all fallen dramatically. This improved security environment has led to a new opportunity, one in which average Iraqis can, in the future, approach a more normal political and economic life.
