More Litigation And/Or More Fairness?: Looks like the Senate is going to be operating somewhat unusually today. Senate Democrat Leader Harry Reid needs Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama to get back to DC and cast a procedural vote to allow for debate on the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, which will probably be blocked by Mitch McConnell and almost all of the other Senate Republicans because they say the bill is “primarily designed to create a massive amount of new litigation in our country.” The bill is intended to reverse a Supreme Court ruling last year that established tight time restrictions on lawsuits over pay discrimination, according to the NYT. So Reid has moved the procedural vote from its typical morning spot to 5 pm, in order to give Clinton and Obama time to get back and vote in favor of the measure, despite the likelihood that Republicans will deny backers of the bill the 60 votes needed to get it to the floor.
Mac’s Here: Republican presidential nominee John McCain is in the bluegrass today. I’ll post coverage as I get it.
Clinton Force Snowballing: Not only did Hillary Clinton succeed in pulling out a double digit win in Pennsylvania yesterday, but The Politico reported last night that she has brought in nearly $3 million since winning. By the way, remember Barack Obama’s million in a minute thing? I read that he came up way short on that lofty goal and only brought in about $245,000.
