Louisville is predominantly pro-life. Many of the city’s Democrats are simply not liberal when it comes to values issues. That is why I said that the pro-life movement would probably have a strong impact on the race between Anne Northup and Rep. John Yarmuth (D - KY / San Francisco).
It’s happening. Lifenews.com had a story go up yesterday about The Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund, which:
. . . supports pro-life female candidates, as well as some pro-life men facing pro-abortion women funded by groups like Emily’s List or NARAL to help keep the percentage of pro-life women members of Congress high.
Anne Northup is one of a handful of people who have been selected by the fund to recieve their support.
The fund has been quite successful in helping to put good candidates like Northup over the top:
The SBA List Candidate Fund won 59% of its federal campaigns in 2006. Seventeen of 29 SBA Candidate Fund-endorsed candidates were victorious.By contrast, EMILY’s List, the leading pro-abortion political action committee, won 43% of its federal races with 13 of 30 endorsed candidates prevailing on Election Day.
As both Cyberhillbilly and KyPolitics.org mentioned today, Northup is also set to receive the support of House Minority Leader John Boehner and his Regain Our Majority Program (ROMP).
Every Republican in the country needs to understand that if you want a Republican to beat a Democrat incumbent in 2008, you need to give money to Northup for Congress and then come to Louisville and do volunteer work for the Northup campaign this fall.
