Some good news on the Republican congressional front.

Anne Northup is the strongest Republican challenger in the country. If you want a Republican to beat a Democrat incumbent in 2008, you need to give money to Northup for Congress and then come to Louisville and do volunteer work for the Northup campaign this fall.

A notice released just moments ago says that Anne Northup raised $40,000 in the 24 hour period leading up to Kentucky’s primary election tomorrow without even holding an actual fundraiser:

Today Northup for Congress announced that the campaign had raised more than $40,000 in a 24 hour period leading up to the May 20th Republican Primary. The campaign achieved this accomplishment without a single fundraising event on Monday.

“People are unhappy with what they’re paying at the pump. They’re unhappy with new, inordinate taxes, and they’re unhappy about the unfulfilled promises that this Congress has made,” said Anne Northup. “In 2006 this community lost its strongest advocate and we’re working hard to make sure that Louisville gets the leadership it deserves.”

“We’re encouraged by the groundswell of support that’s apparent in our fundraising today, and will be apparent in the election results tomorrow night.”
