I will be honest and say that I was suprised and disappointed by Mike Huckabee’s comment about Barack Obama ducking for cover at the NRA show on Friday. In light of Steve Beshear’s comments on shooting George W. Bush and our outcry for an apology, I think it would be hypocritical to not have some dissatisfaction with Huckabee.
Granted, Obama is not the President and Huckabee did not actually wish death on Obama as Beshear did on our President, but the joke was a bit off. To his credit, though, he did quickly apologize, something that Beshear has not done.
I am actually surprised more comments have not come from the press and the left casting Huckabee as a racist or trying to incite something. It is refreshing that it was jumped on and fully equated to the Beshear comment.
In case you missed Huckabee’s words:
That was Barack Obama. He just tripped off a chair. He’s getting ready to speak and somebody aimed a gun at him and he — he dove for the floor.
