Every time someone says “Barack Hussein Obama,” calls Barack Obama a liberal, or says any word that can be construed as insensitive, we are reminded that we are not allowed to say those things. Obama therefore, with some help from John McCain, has set forth ground rules for campaigning and news coverage which have generally given him an advantage and shielded him from some potential negative conversation which could hurt him politically.
When some fool who used to work for Joe Biden and now supports Obama asked McCain about how he may have used a word that could be interpreted by some, especially women, as insensitive or worse, that Obama supporter unintentionally gave Hillary Clinton an advantage similar to the ones Obama has enjoyed up to this point.
What a terrible time for an Obama supporter to do this. He is clearly an idiot.
Rules like this force everyone to view the situation through the prism of that particular sensitivity. For a while now, people have viewed Obama as representative of a certain type of victim. In order to right the wrongs that those “victims” suffered, advantage was given to Obama in voters’ minds. Now, Democrat voters have two candidates who are “victims.” While Hillary has always been a woman, introducing this type of language to the current political/news cycle makes Clinton more of a “victim” than ever before. We knew a long time ago that she is a woman who was cheated on, qualifying her as a credible “victim,” but adding harsh language and potentially images of discrimination into the picture will make some types of people sympathize with - and support - Clinton more than ever before.
