Segregation In Progressive Multiculture

“How could racial segregation occur in progressive Europe?” many American liberals might ask themselves. American liberals are so certain that their policies and their ideas for the future of this nation would lead to the most utopic society known to man.

If that were true, wouldn’t they have had some luck in England by now?

If that were true, the headline at Times of London probably wouldn’t read “New Mayor must stop our schools separating out along race lines, equality chief warns.”

To say that the “new” Mayor must “stop” separating “along race lines” implies that their schools currently are segregating out along race lines. Oh, and did you notice that it was the “equality chief” who warned of the problem?

OK, liberals. Get in your fun while you can. Go ahead with all of your “Oh, there must have been some conservative, racist, bigoted, homophobic wingnuts in charge over there for a while after 9/11 when everyone thought al-Qaeda was hiding in every subway and on every bus. Back when some people actually believed the lies that Bush and Blair were telling everyone.”

Wrong.

Ken Livingstone, the man who has finally been ejected from the London Mayor’s office, was an all out socialist member of Britain’s liberal Labour Party. The “new Mayor” the equality chief was referring to is the newly-elected conservative Boris Johnson.

When the equality chief Trevor Phillips remarked on Livingstone’s governing style, he sounded like he was describing American Democrats:

One of the things that people like me felt uncomfortable about was that their way of doing politics was to Balkanise and control.

They would choose this group and give them something, that group and give them something. Londoners don’t want to feel that one part of the city is being played off against another. No one really likes that approach apart from some community leaders who benefit from it.

Don’t get me wrong. Mr. Phillips made a lot of ridiculous asinine no-good statements, but his description of how liberal politicians attain and retain power was dead on.
