Texas Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson is trashing the DC handgun ban. Here are summaries of some of her remarks.

Can you imagine if your city council banned the first amendment?

In the years leading up to the DC gun ban, the murder rate was on the decline. Since the ban, violent crime has gone up 200%. In an amicus brief filed to the Supreme Court which is about to decide Heller, more members of Congress have signed the brief than ever before. John McCain signed the brief. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton did not.

Even Dick Cheney signed the brief. Unprecedented. Hutchinson told Cheney that she wanted to protect every Americans’ right to be shot by the Vice President of the United States.

What if there had been gun control at the time of the Revolutionary War? There would be no United States.

UPDATE 2:29 PM: Disarmed people are vulnerable to government control. Look at Nazi Germany. We see it now in Burma. They are unable to shake off the yoke of tyranny. This should not be an issue in the United States.
