Florida and Michigan Democrat elites wanted a greater say in their party’s pick for a presidential nominee. So they moved their states’ primaries to earlier in the year to attract more candidate appearances, hype, and undoubtedly, money.
Howard Dean, DNC Chairman, was tiffed by the moves which were made outside normal party procedure. He punished the state parties by making their delegates to the DNC in Denver not count, therby disenfranchising two entire states full of Democratic voters.
Would it not have been more appropriate to levy a fine on the state parties? He could have called it a “fee,” or a “revenue enhancement instrument,” or even a “tax.” That’s what Democrats do whenever they want to punish the American people for doing something. Why not use it on themselves?
Sure, the state parties’ ability to perform groundwork would have been slightly crippled, but at least your entire party wouldn’t be on the brink of disaster. Besides, the DNC could have allocated some of the money back to the states - after making them sweat for a while.
This is elitism. This is arrogance. This is stupidity. This is ignorance.

“This is elitism. This is arrogance. This is stupidity. This is ignorance.”
This is business as usual for the Democrat Party.
