Remember when Miller Brewing supported illegal immigration? Michelle Malkin asked, “Live responsibly? By supporting law-breaking?”
Now open borders Miller is going all out and just supporting open borders - open to terrorists - open to activist judges - and open to higher taxes Barack Obama. The Miller Democrats are sponsoring “Barack The Bars Nightlife Visibility @ Midtown Liberty Bar Tour!” in DC. The even is advertised on hillzoo.com and listed on the Obama website.

Should we go through this again?

By the way, here’s one lame response a blogger got after complaining about their support of illegal immigration.
This doesn’t really make a lot of sense. You can’t demand things from private companies. The LEO thinks it’s cool, though. Can you imagine a group of idiots standing in front of Kroger screaming “Food for all!” We might just be on our way there, folks.
LEO does their best to pump this protest up:
With Humana Corporate headquarters in the background, car horns honking their support, and chants of “Health care for all!”, the corner of 5th & Main Street was buzzing with activity as Louisville social justice advocates led a crowd of over 200 people today in what was a nationwide protest against health insurance corporations.
Damon Thayer, State Senate, 17th District, is way ahead in fundraising dollars. I mean way ahead. The last filings due on 6/19/2008 shows Thayer ahead of challenger Robert Powell by around $144,000 (Powel had about $4000). However, he has over $185,000 in the bank after a successful fundraiser in Lexington last week. I am of the belief that when you fundraise like that, you have a message that people are believing.
U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell:
“Today the Supreme Court ruled that the Second Amendment protects the individual right of law-abiding citizens of the District of Colombia to protect themselves in their own homes. This landmark ruling will ensure that regardless of where citizens reside, the government will respect their rights that are guaranteed by the Second Amendment.”
Kentucky Senate Leader David Williams:
“The Supreme Court’s decision to lift the ban on the law abiding citizens of Washington, D.C. from exercising their fundamental right to bear arms is a victory to all citizens who value their Constitutional rights. Today we have seen first hand the significance of having strong judges that understand that their role is to interpret the law as written, not create new laws. The importance of this decision will also be a factor in the presidential election considering Barack Obama’s record of consistent opposition to gun owner’s rights.”
Kentucky Senator & 2nd Congressional District candidate Brett Guthrie:
“I am ecstatic about the Supreme Court’s ruling today affirming the right of an individual to keep and bear arms. Today’s ruling shows the importance of having judges on the bench who interpret the Constitution as written instead of legislating from the bench. As a Member of Congress, I will always vote to uphold the Second Amendment and the rights of gun owners and sportsmen and women everywhere.”
The Democrat economic talking point about the tax cuts for the richest one percent is not only inaccurate, but it’s nothing new and unbecoming of a man who is supposedly such a big change, Barack Obama. He really should come up with new talking points.
While it is nearly impossible to list every person who has said this misleading line, I’ll give you a few examples of the failures who have used the talking point.
Al Sharpton:
“The top one percent in this country pays very much less than ten percent, very much less than five percent.”
John Kerry:
2003 Press Release
Kerry calls for “shared sacrifice”; Plan would reduce Bush tax cut for wealthiest one percent of Americans to help pay for war in Iraq
2004
“The fact is, the take-home pay of a typical American family as a share of national income is lower than it’s been since 1929. And the take-home pay of the richest . 1 percent of Americans is the highest it’s been since 1928.”
Bruce Springsteen:
“We granted tax cuts to the richest 1 percent (corporate bigwigs, well-to-do guitar players), increasing the division of wealth that threatens to destroy our social contract with one another and render mute the promise of ”one nation indivisible.’”
Kathy Sullivan - Former New Hampshire Democratic Chairwoman:
1999
“Read my lips, the richest 1 percent of taxpayers get 100 times more tax relief than do middle-income families, a $50,000 tax cut for the rich as opposed to only $500 for working-class families.”
Al Gore:
(On George W. Bush)
“He spends more money for tax cuts for the wealthiest 1 per cent than all of his new spending proposals for health care, prescription drugs, education and national defence all combined.”
Joe Biden:
via MSNBC
“Biden said that in addition to the $120 billion being spent annually on the war in Iraq, he would save an additional $85 billion by eliminating tax breaks for the richest 1 percent of Americans.”
And now . . .
Barack Obama:
“The share of [U.S.] income going to the top 1 percent and top 0.1 percent of the population has grown to almost unprecedented levels in the past 20 years.”
That’s not change. Not even change you can be forced to believe in or be decapitated. That’s just the same old talking point old-school soundbite politics.
I haven’t heard much at all from Ann Coulter lately. She has a column out at townhall.com today, though.
The key point:
Liberals complain that — as B. Hussein Obama put it — there’s “no way that allowing offshore drilling would lower gas prices right now. At best you are looking at five years or more down the road.”This is as opposed to airplanes that run on woodchips, which should be up and running any moment now.
Rich New York Democrat Jack Davis challenged the millionaire’s amendment and won.
The law allowed donors to opponents of candidates who dip heavily into personal wealth for campaign cash to exceed federal campaign contribution limits.
In other words, in Kentucky, for example, if Bruce Lunsford dips heavily into his personal wealth that he amassed at the helm of the failed Vencor business (more than roughly $1,500,000), then Senator Mitch McConnell would be allowed to take donations in excess of $2,300 from individuals.
With the law being struck down today, though, and the inevitability of a big Lunsford gamble attempting to purchase the election with his personal wealth, McConnell may work harder than ever before to raise money from individuals to enable him to get his message across to Kentucky voters that he has delivered for the people of Kentucky time and time again and will continue to do so if they will continue to place their trust in him.
I was pretty nervous after the two horrible decisions recently, put the 2A lives!
UPDATE:
John McCain whacks Barack Obama on 2A:
Unlike Senator Obama, who refused to join me in signing a bipartisan amicus brief, I was pleased to express my support and call for the ruling issued today. Today’s ruling in District of Columbia v. Heller makes clear that other municipalities like Chicago that have banned handguns have infringed on the constitutional rights of Americans. Unlike the elitist view that believes Americans cling to guns out of bitterness, today’s ruling recognizes that gun ownership is a fundamental right — sacred, just as the right to free speech and assembly.
Jay-Z, my favorite lyricist, says that 30 is the new 20. Fashionistas always want to tell us what the new black is this season. In the same line of thinking, Justice Anthony Kennedy appears to be the new Sandra Day O’Connor.
The critical swing vote on the Supreme Court. I assume that a Justice in that position relishes it. That the interpratation of the Constitution, that life in America, is in their vote.
Of course, we would like to think that Justices are above that sort of thing, but let’s be real. They are human too.
Now that we have seen how this current court is going to decide on important issues, it’s important to think about the next President’s role in choosing. The current court is really one vote away from a solid conservative majority. That also means it is 2 votes from a liberal majority. I know John McCain is not a lock on appointing a conservative judge. Heck, even Ronald Reagan wasn’t perfect. I will guarantee that Barack Obama’s picks will be horrible. So, while not a sure thing, at least there is a chance for something right from McCain.
That slim chance is enough to vote for him, in my opinion.
UPDATE (JEFFERSON): I think this guy at National Review Online agrees.
The funniest part about this possibly important article on the future of the internet is this line:
He said that the proposals would result in the biggest change to the way the internet worked in decades.
Really? It’s not like the internet has been around for centuries or anything.
At a celebration of his 90th birthday, Nelson Mandela condemned the leadership of Zimbabwe’s dictator Robert Mugabe. Mugabe has long been heralded, primarily by the left, as an anti-colonialist icon. However, recent publicized brutality towards political opposition in Zimbabwe has drawn intense criticism. Still, little interventionist action has taken place.
Mandela said “We watch with sadness the continuing tragedy in Darfur. Nearer to home we have seen the outbreak of violence against fellow Africans in our own country and the tragic failure of leadership in our neighbouring Zimbabwe.”
Daily Mail points out:
Mandela’s words are likely to go unheard in Zimbabwe as Mugabe controls the media - and even if they are aired it is almost certain they will accuse him of being in the pay of the British.
UPDATE: Surprise, surprise. A Mugabe aide rejected the criticism, saying it is a result of pressure from the west.
John McCain will be in town Saturday for a combined fundraiser with Senator Mitch McConnell and the Republican Party of Kentucky.
The event, organized by former Ambassador to Latvia Cathy Bailey and former top Rove aide J. Scott Jennings, can be expected to raise between $1.5 million to $2 million dollars for various candidates and entities.
The final tally will get a running start with upwards of two dozen people donating individually or raising $25,000. For individuals donating this amount, they would quickly run into contribution limits to Senator McCain’s presidential campaign, Senator McConnell’s reelection campaign, and RPK.
The balance of their contributions will be sent to battleground states and other races expected to be particularly close.
I am sure you have heard about the Court’s decision to strike down the death penalty for child rapists, no matter how heinous their crimes. The court wanted to be clear, though, that this limit on the death penalty was only for acts against individuals. It did not want to limit the death penalty for crimes against the state. An excerpt from the decision is below:
Our concern here is limited to crimes against individual persons. We do not address, for example, crimes defining and punishing treason, espionage, terrorism, and drug kingpin activity, which are offenses against the State. As it relates to crimes against individuals, though, the death penalty should not be expanded to instances where the victim’s life was not taken.
This now puts child rape below treason and drug dealing as an offense punishable by death. It also makes it plain that crimes against the government are far worse than crimes against the people that make the government exist. Deal drugs, be a terrorist, or perform an act of treason against your federal government and you may die. Rape a child every couple of years, get caught after trying to cover it up and just serve jail time.
Disgusting.
UPDATE (JEFFERSON): I love this portion of Alito’s dissent:
“The court takes pains to limit its holding to ‘crimes against individual persons’ and to exclude ‘offenses against the state’ … But the court makes no effort to explain why the harm caused by such crimes is necessarily greater than the harm caused by the rape of young children.”. . .
“The court suggests that it is more painful for child-rape victims to testify when the prosecution is seeking the death penalty … The court also argues that ‘a state that punishes child rape by death may remove a strong incentive for the rapist not to kill the victim’ … These policy arguments, whatever their merits, are simply not pertinent to the question whether the death penalty is ‘cruel and unusual’ punishment.”
So, not only is it public knowledge that the Democratic National Convention in Denver is short of fundraising goals, but apparently they can not do much of anything right.
After an edict from the Democrat Mayor of Denver to make this the ‘greenest’ convention ever, they have switched to the ‘most sustainable’. After a nationwide search to find baseball caps and fanny packs that were union-made from organic material, it was found that such contraptions do not exist. Can you imagine that there is not demand for such articles?
Additional silly things include bio-degradable balloons that are being tested by burying them in a compost pile. Not only that, a carbon specialist is measuring the carbon gases emitted from the balloons. Add that to the ridiculous food details, 70% organic and locally grown (not a bad idea), and all meals must have 3 of the following colors (garnish does not count), red, green, yellow, blue/purple and white.
Those should prove to be interesting pretzel and cheese platters. This article lays out most of the other items that are far too numerous to list here.
One could probably read this as “What will happen here if Obama wins” or “America in 20 years.”
BBC:
Labour MPs were pinning their hopes on the party bouncing in the polls after a string of Tory sleaze furores and the decision by David Davis to quit and spark a by-election which he is fighting on a civil liberties platform. But an ICM/Guardian survey, published today, delivers a crushing verdict on Mr Brown’s premiership, putting the Tories 20 points ahead on 45 per cent with Labour trailing at 25 per cent.
Sonny Landham’s Internet Movie Database bio describes him as “an actor with a powerful physique, booming voice and Native American looks.”
But after several tough guy roles in action movies and adult films, he now says “I think I’m having wild action when I take two aspirin with my hot chocolate at night.”
Kentucky is in for a wild U.S. Senate race, though.
Landham recently began a petition drive to collect 5,000 signatures to get his name on the November U.S. Senate ballot, pitting him against Senator Mitch McConnell and Democrat candidate Bruce Lunsford.
His Libertarian Party platform makes him sound a lot like Bruce Lunsford when he says “He took us into a war on lies” and that he supports trying to revert America’s economy to a pre-globalization mindset by scrapping NAFTA. However, you have to admire his frankness in saying “PC is BS. Say what you mean, mean what you say.”
Landham now expresses some regret over his 2.5 year prison sentence for making threatening and obscene phone calls to his ex-wife and his early years in 70s adult films, saying “at the time I made the choice of getting a paycheck, staying alive for your big break.”
The McConnell campaign isn’t worried about Landham’s candidacy. Advisor Scott Jennings stated that it won’t affect the fact that McConnell has “delivered for the commonwealth time and again.”
I guess this Heinz ad depicting same-sex relationships failed to pass the “global test.”
It got pulled from television in Britain after drawing complaints.
A somewhat strange story from BBC in which a man who held John McCain captive at the Hanoi Hilton years ago now expresses support for McCain’s presidential bid.

Tran Trong Duyet has many interesting statements:
“McCain is my friend,” said 75-year-old Mr Duyet as he feeds the caged birds he now keeps in his garden in this coastal city.“If I was American, I would vote for him.”
. . .
“I don’t know how he’d react if he met me again.”
. . .
“We used to argue about the war - about whether it was right or wrong,” he says.
“He is a very frank man - very conservative, and very loyal to his country and the American ideal.
“He had a very interesting accent and sometimes he taught me words in English and corrected my accent. I have followed his career since he left prison.”
Of course, Mr. Duyet’s account of the events that took place at the Hanoi Hilton is quite different from McCain’s:
“But I can confirm to you that we never tortured him. We never tortured any prisoners.”. . .
“He did not tell the truth,” he says.
“But I can somehow sympathise with him. He lies to American voters in order to get their support for his presidential election.”
. . .
“Of course the Americans started the war in Vietnam and killed so many people - but now we want to leave the past behind.
“So now I consider John McCain my friend because he did much to mend relations between our two countries. And if he becomes president he will do more to improve those ties.”
BBC hypothesizes one possible reason Mr. Duyet speaks the way he does about the war:
But Mr Duyet’s propaganda-perfect version of events is impossible to verify - and should be treated with caution in a country where the Communist authorities still keep a tight control over the media.Relations between Vietnam and the United States have improved dramatically in recent years, following the normalisation of ties between the former enemies in 1995.
Wow. Is this Democrat saying that the government should model its work after the work of Jesus? Should the government also perform baptisms? Somehow, I don’t think so. I think this is all just amateurish rhetoric.
This woman is a paranoid schizophrenic lunatic.
