Kentucky Treasurer Jonathan Miller’s sister Jennifer Miller is a rumored “replacement” for the seat which will be vacated by Rep. Kathy Stein (D), who is going for the Senate seat being vacated by Senator Ernesto Scorsone, who wants to be a judge.

Well, the rumor is starting to seem more and more true.  Kathy Stein has a Facebook group up called “Kathy Stein for State Senate.”  Interestingly, Jennifer Miller is the Creator of the group. 

Page One Kentucky reported recently that Miller once told another liberal blogger that she thought U.S. Senate candidate Bruce Lunsford was trying to assassinate her.  Senator Mitch McConnell recently launched a website criticizing Lunsford’s gas tax policy.

This is a great opportunity for Kentucky Republicans to pick up a House seat.  Aside from the weak Democrat candidates, I think a lot of people are just sick of current politicians’ family members running for office.  Republicans dominate control of the Senate, and a steady stream of House pickups would be a great way to shape the rest of the Steve Beshear administration.

In Louisville, Metro Council President Jim King has a family member running for a judicial post.  His daughter Katie King, who I heard is dating Attorney General Jack Conway’s little brother (somebody verify?), is completely unqualified compared to her opponent David Holton, a.k.a. “The Blind Judge,” but many expect King to pull out the victory anyway given her father’s (and I guess Conway’s) influence.

One time Republican gubernatorial candidate Larry Forgy’s sister Alice Forgy Kerr currently serves in the Kentucky Senate.
