The Boston Globe recently had an amazing report on the status of federal low-income housing in Barrack Obama’s former state Senate district in Illinois. In it you will find some familiar names, like Tony Rezko, as people associated with Obama that made millions from Federal Housing subsidies but later allowed the properties to fall into disrepair even though they were still being paid to maintain the properties. Valerie Jarrett is a senior adviser to Obama’s presidential campaign and a member of his finance committee. She is the chief executive of Habitat Co., which managed Grove Parc Plaza from 2001 until this winter and co-managed an even larger subsidized complex in Chicago that was seized by the federal government in 2006. See, Groce Parc has 99 vacant units, mostly do the conditions of the complex. Federal inspectors graded the property an 11 out of a possible 100 points. Deplorable. Just read the article linked above and you will find several incidents of key Obama allies infused in this development scheme. From law partners, campaign contributors and current advisers; this sounds like the Chicago political machine at its worst. But, no worries, there is always more room under the bus and surely these people are not the people Obama knew. But don’t question his judgement.
