The ban on delevelopment of western United States oil shale was slipped into the $555 billion dollar omnibus spending bill passed by Congress late last year. The ban was the result of a combined effort by Colorado Senator Ken Salazar (D) and Colorado Rep. Mark Udall (D).

This ban is set to expire on September 30th, 2008, but these members of Congress and other liberal Democrat Luddites are working on finding a way to extend the ban on oil shale development into 2009.

Please use the forms on Senator Salazar’s and Congressman Udall’s websites to tell them not to try to extend the ban on oil shale development.

If they do, the other option is to get President Bush to veto any and every bill that extends the ban.
