Steve Manning brings up a good point. Why the hell didn’t Rep. Ron Lewis (KY - 2) sign the letter to Speaker Nancy Pelosi asking her to allow votes in the House on bills that would allow expanded drilling in ANWR and on the continental shelf?
Thank you to Rep. Geoff Davis (KY -4), Rep. Ed Whitfield (KY - 2), and Rep. Hal Rogers (KY - 5) for signing the letter. Are you there Ben Chandler, or are you playing golf with John Yarmuth?
I know he’s retiring after this term, but there is still business to be taken care of!
Well, I know one thing for sure, future Representative Brett Guthrie will not be lazy like Lewis. Neither will future Representative Brandon Smith when he runs for Congress after Hal Rogers retires.
And for those of you who think Jack Conway is going to take Jim Bunning’s seat - think again. He is definitely running (he’s building a website now and he doesn’t care who else wants to run - even if that means sabotaging efforts pursued by Dr. Lt. Governor Dan The Medicaid Man Honeymooner Mongiardo), but Bunning will never let him take it from him. If Bunning were to decide to not run again (of course, this is not likely at all, Bunning’s running!), our two term Secretary of State Trey Grayson will crush Conway in a head to head.

Lazy like Lewis! Really Jeff? And you want to bring Brandon Smith as the shining example of hard work and morality? I am shocked! There is about as much speculation in that as the gasoline futures market.
There are many Republicans that do not believe Bunning can win against a strong Democratic candidate. Dr. Dan was not that good of a candidate and made it tight, now imagine the KY Kennedy or Rep. Chandler. Jeff, you have a way of shooting off your mouth and eating a lot of crow. Don’t jinx us! As much as I hate to admit it, 1,200 people more voted for the AG than SoS, and there was a vote difference of roughly 36,000 votes between Conway and Grayson. That is a hell of a head to head. That means a lot of Republicans voted for Conway. If I were Bunning, and hell bent on running in 2010, I would be praying for just about anyone but Conway or Kennedy.
But damn, lazy like Lewis! Really? Ron is a hell of a guy and doesn’t deserve that! Where is the call out on the metro-council Republicans or the KY legislature Republicans for not being the most outspoken in moving legislation. Ron didn’t deserve that shot.

Didn’t say I “want” to bring Brandon Smith - I think he will be brought, though. I never mentioned morality.
It means a lot of Democrats voted for Grayson, not Republicans for Conway.
Ron Lewis is a hell of a guy, but why should someone get their feelings hurt over this simple statement? Lewis casts good votes for the most part, undoubtedly, but he doesn’t have the reputation of being a very active Congressman. Sorry. It’s not my fault. It’s his.

Oh Touche! Ok, I can see the Grayson-Conway debacle, but there is still a 36,000 vote difference.
Your right, Ron Lewis does not have the reputation for pushing hasty legislation, a sign of a solid conservative. But he does have a hell of a reputation for working his ass off for his district. He has a ton of small towns in the 2nd to take care of, not like Anne that has 1, read it, ONE city (Don’t be a smartass and list the little principalities of King Jerry). I bet Ron would love to bring $$$Billion$$$ projects to Bowling Green, Elizabethtown, Owensboro, or Shelbyville , but doesn’t work that way. My feelings were not hurt that you made the comment, I just felt it was unwarrented and uncalled for. Ron is a close friend, you would never hear a Republican blogger call your sweet Anne one of the most hateful, sore losers ever. Right now, about the only difference between the Anne and Lunsford campaign, is Anne was in office for 5 terms before she lost 2 in a row. Pick and choose your statements carefully. Ron is an incumbant Republican, and we shouldn’t be willing to throw dirt at our own people!
As for Brandon Smith, there are too many skeletons, aka Skinny, blonde interns/traveling staff, in his closet. State Senate is one thing, but the ‘Ole 5th deserves someone better than that.
